  46. A group of Dutch hackers ( domain hacktic.nl) use CB radio for their
  47. communications. As good hackers do, they steal a domain, address range
  48. and access to the "real thing". They found that ipswich.wa2hee.ampr.org
  49. is an open gateway and use it to fake access  (call cb0cbm).
  50. I have closed the Dutch gateway for the ipswich gateway. I do hope others
  51. close off their systems as well.

  66. ipswich has been closed to such naughtiness since Aug 4th.  We
  67. disabled access to ipswich from the internet after someone pointed it
  68. out.  There haven't been any bogus logins since then.  Please see if
  69. it's really a problem before "closing it off".  If it still offends,
  70. please let me know by email to sysop@wa2hee.ampr.org.  (The complaint
  71. I got came in via ttylink, not email, and I only heard about it second
  72. hand, so I didn't even know who to thank!)

  83. Anyone have any suggestions for PARAM 1 - X for DRSI boards? I'm having all
  84. kinds of problems talking to a system that's using DRSI bards. Don't seem
  85. to have problems talking to other systems. I can hear the signals and they
  86. are s-8, but my box is not decoding them. I can decode the small - ack type -
  87. packets, but once it goes to > 128 bytes, I can't decode anything. Any 
  88. suggestions would be appreciated.

  155. Yes NT is out. I hadn't been installing the beta's for the most part
  156. but got my final version last week. Installation was rather easy with 
  157. the CD ROM. Sure beats swapping disks.

  159. Other than that it seems to work OK. Lots of security. There are some
  160. problems though!

  162. 1. I have TCP/IP installed and when I enter the accessories group terminal
  163. set it for telnet (get the telnet prompt back) and then type a CONTROL J
  164. and then an enter at the keyboard the system crashes - memory violations
  165. and a very unstable system or complete lockup. It does bring up DR. Watson
  166. before it crashes. Bug report submitted to Microsoft.

  168. Telnet does work - just don't do the above!! Sure doesn't say much for a
  169. stable (fault tolerant) system that MS touts.
  170.  
  171. 2. I tried installing a serial printer to com1 and had it working and
  172. then when I restarted the system I lost com1 never to return! Working
  173. with MS on this one and they have not been much help to date. Sure is
  174. aggravating!!

  176. Called about courses and have heard similiar horror stories about crashes.
  177. Looks like MS is going to have to have another release. I sure would not
  178. want to trust anything valuable on it right now.

  180. Microsoft has an NT machine hanging on the internet for driver/doc updates
  181. etc. - It is gowinnt.microsoft.com - alias for ftp.microsoft.com
